Our barley shochu - Hogehoppo (photo: 720ml) is made using 100% naked barley, cultivated in Usuki City, Oita Prefecture. The different qualities of the naked barley are brought out by the atmospheric Distillation, and the shochu is characterized by a deep aroma and a rich taste with a slight bitterness. It’s great straight, on the rocks, or with water (hot or cold) … it’s up to you!

 

Hogehoppo” is a familiar word to Oita people as it is part of the local dialect or slang if you will. Locally, it means “nonsensical, jumbled, or funny”. Nevertheless, it’s a common word in these parts.

Barley Shochu - Kuroboze

KUROBOZE(クロボウズ)

Our barley shochu - Kuroboze is made using 100% naked barley, cultivated in Oita Prefecture. The different qualities of the naked barley are brought out by the atmospheric Distillation, and the shochu is characterized by a deep aroma, a rich taste with a slight bitterness. And the kurokoji gives this shochu a delightfully smooth texture.It’s great straight, on the rocks, or with water (hot or cold) … it’s up to you!
