Our barley shochu - Hogehoppo (photo: 720ml) is made using 100% naked barley, cultivated in Usuki City, Oita Prefecture. The different qualities of the naked barley are brought out by the atmospheric distillation, and the shochu is characterized by a deep aroma and a rich taste with a slight bitterness. Itfs great straight, on the rocks, or with water (hot or cold) c itfs up to you!

 

gHogehoppoh is a familiar word to Oita people as it is part of the local dialect or slang if you will. Locally, it means gnonsensical, jumbled, or funnyh. Nevertheless, itfs a common word in these parts.
